Guts if anything, fits the messiah character description. He is spurned, he is cast off, he is raped, he is called evil regardless of the truth of the matter, but still he persists and defeats categorical true evil regardless of what the masses claim that "evil" really is. He is the messiah figure of the story.
Honestly, the entire thing is a bit on the nose. Miura wasn't a terrible author, but he certainly wasn't subverting expectations
