When I eat less and exercise more suicidal thoughts are way less frequent. Took me way too long to figure this one out.

Otherwise I cope with copious amounts of tea (too old for alcohol now).

Cope? I don't know. I try to get lost in hobbies. This often doesn't work. Keep fish, put heart and sould in to it, one gets sick and dies. I then envy the dead fish, i wish i would get sick and die. I play chess. Chess makes me angry more than happy.

Let me give you a primer: when you hit 40 you won't care. Not about your age. Not at that point. You will be upset and depressed about other things but not that exactly. It does feel like if you haven't achieved what you wanted by that mark that you have failed. That is how is feels to me.
