Did the Ancient Roman Empire actually exist?
Nearly all the texts we have are dubious at best and likely forgeries, and most of the archeological evidence seems to point to most of the “roman” buildings actually either being built in the middle ages or by the Byzantines.
Was there ever a “western” Rome at all? Is Italy even the “heart” of Rome? Is Rome actually Dacian/Romanian rather than Italian?
The uncomfortable truth is this could all be possible. Perhaps our entire knowledge of Ancient Rome is lies or mistakes, perhaps it was all Papal Propaganda…
