If you set your goal as enjoying life, then you can immediately enjoy your current situation, whatever it is (in most cases).
Your own goals and achieving them (or not) is what determines your happiness.
Test it yourself: set an easy goal for yourself (such as beating some level on a video game), and you will notice that you will be happy when you achieve it.
