Does japan like anime?

Anime is cancer. Anime is destroying the west. Anime is making the west not just morally wrong and unproductive, but anime makes the west fundamentally NOT FUN.

Japan seems to keep anime to a minimum. They produce anime, but not worship it like the west does. There is a pervasive art style, but it doesn't seem as though japan is as concerned with "waifus" and "" and such as the west is.

Is this correct? Does japan moderate their anime consumption?

If I moved to japan, would I feel like anime is less cancerous to my surroundings than I do currently, as a westerner?
