Why don't elves represent Russians, or Slavs in general, in popular media that much? The idea of a beautiful, strong, and cultured race, one that seems like they are set for success, that yet manages to eke out a miserable existence in perpetuity, destined to be used as a cumrag or as fodder in yet another war, gulag, or alleyway snorting or dealing magickal coke seems too good of an idea to pass up. A race that lost against the humans, whose former members are either embracing the dark races, the savage goblins, the terrorists, the orcs, or are going the way of the Czech or even the Pole, bootlicking or even outright trying to emulate the human race, which their great empire, their USSR equivalent, faltered against. A sad race, which is both loved and despised by the world they inhabit, like a min-maxed build gone wrong. It's tragic, honestly. Russians themselves are amazing people
