They don't keep to themselves and study so much because they just love math so much, it's because they have been instructed not to mingle and to get top grades so they can go to top universities and get top grades there so they can get top positions at prestigious positions around the country in literally everything. Their parents keep them isolated so they remain ideologically pure and stay focused on taking down America.
It's possible that the plan has been in motion long enough that it's almost ready to go into effect. The Kim regime has been dead set on the destruction of America for ages, so the time frame works. They could have first planted their agents in South Korea and faked their citizenship there and then had them immigrate to the US. Next they have a baby. The baby becomes an American citizen, but the parents keep it isolated and steeped in North Korean propaganda as it grows up so it grows into an American hating loyal slave like the rest of them.
