There's a story an old lady told me while we waited at a train stop.
Her parents had a neighbor that lived across the way during nazi times and they were never terribly pleasant, they were suspected of being a nazi informant. Some time later a nazi officer came to their door and told her parents "Hey, your neighbor leaked us info that you're harboring jews/partisans, we know that's not true but I just thought you should know." The jist had been that the neighbor had liked their house and wanted it, so was willing to falsely get them sent to a camp to get it.
There's your little Slovenian tale, neighbors with less humanity than a Nazi that would send you to your death just to have your shit.
Liquidating sympathizers after Tito took over was not a good thing, it was a horrible act. Somehow though, I struggle to feel sympathy for them, commie blood orgies and all. We're a deplorable race.
