The image is implying that President Obama is a monkey because a banana (a food commonly associated with monkeys in pop culture is placed in front of him and he is making a face which may be seen as similar to those made by chimpanzees. African Americans and people of African descent people are compared to monkeys by racist because they see civilizations in Africa as primitive, however it is important to note people of African descent did not have access to certain resources Europeans did. Racism is never okay and we must all do our part to fight harmful stereotypes.
