and yeah I can understand the power fantasy and wanting to be the big cool hero but it can kinda fall flat when they don't know what they're doing
I mean I'm happy enough playing a buff machine and letting everyone else kick butt when I'm with new players but there's like a baseline knowledge necessary for the party to function
I remember I was playing a divine soul sorcerer in curse of strahd trying to buff our paladin up to smite everything but instead he insisted on trying to melee every enemy with holy water instead
maybe I've just had bad luck
