I think I might be driven by a mass of uncouncioussness.
Like meme magic the souls of people has an effect on the "fate" of the world. Humans create dieties, spirits, making them real through worship, and putting in emotions and thoughts into them. These become real after while in the astral realm, but also time doesn't really apply there, so they exsist before and after and in all times before they become something in the real world.

I'm pretty sure these spiritual bodies eventually gain a kind of godly form and has certain people they "posess" to spread their influence and work in the world. Almost like prophets in a way.
I think I might be influenced in a way similar to that.
