For a christian, it is possible to exorcize evil spirits through the name of Jesus Christ. And people have done that.
For a biologist, there are no measureable spirits, so he has to assume something is broken in the head. They develop pills to fix this or that hormone, but I know and everybody knows that these drugs kill your drive to live and worsen the psychological situation.
For a psychologist, there are certains methods to help build an understanding of oneself through dialogue, awareness of your body, etc. And in my observation many things that christianity already does, sometimes even better.
Hating yourself because you were raped 10 years ago? God's love can be felt in lonely prayer, calm you down, and accept yourself for what you are (God made you in his image, perfect) and it makes more sense to think of it as personal god than a vague visualization of warmth in your belly or something.
So you could explain the positive effects being rooting in christianity with psychological terms, but it is absolutely necessary for someone to believe the worldview is true, which includes a soul somewhat seperate from the body, evil and good spirits (demons and angels), God and Satan, sin and holiness.
