What types of drug were you abusing?
I've been to a bunch of psychologists and they are all "by the book" NPC's, most of them can't make a proper diagnosis for shit, the only good thing I took out of it was that I could speak to some stranger without being judged so I could be honest about the fucked up shit that I've been through - that certainly took a bit of weight of my chest for what it's worth. The last chick I've been to was cool and she didn't want to send me to psychiatrist because she thought they would pump me full of pills and I would never actually recover I and think she was right!
I know a bunch of people who got on the pill train and they were never the same after that. Benzos are as hard to quit as heroin on alcohol. Half of them got fat - they have no energy, no motivation and they have to up the dosage. It's like they don't care about anything. Would not recommend.
I knew someone who got prescribed pregabalin and now he can't even take a shit without it, his fucking life is ruined. They had to stop giving it to him because he abused it so much and then he tried to rob a pharmacy to steal it because he was going insane. He said if he doesn't take it his stomach hurts and he can't think straight.
Have you tried any natural methods for leaning of that stuff? For me personally walking at least 5-10 km a day while listening to something enjoyable helped very much. Being in the sun in general is very good for mental health. Cold showers is an absolute game changer. I instantly feel 30% better and my sleep improved so much after than. Light fasting also helps. But not those crazy 2-3-4 day fasting, just the 24hour not taking in any calories exept water or tea boosted my mental state of mind to where it's measurable and you can feel it. If you have hobbies that involve being out of your house that usually helps. Any kind of physical activity that can get you out.
