Its one of the main difference between Japanese and you, an actual psychological ability to segregate fiction from reality. They embrace the concept of "escapism" fully. Fiction means to run from reality. Its why Japanese media can have so much crazy shit that Westerners on average wouldn't have been able to tolerate. To me, Westerner twitter faggots are noteworthy in how fiction and fantasy to them is not about "escaping reality", there is no real barrier there, they are trying to force fiction into reality.
The biggest proof of it is how the Japanese had faggots in media since the 70s, and yet, in real life, the Japanese were far more conservative socially then the US was. In 1990s Japan, despite the fact that Japanese children cartoon had elements that Westernoids would consider progressive faggot shit, being an open faggot would have been not tolerated in Japanese society. In contrast, even in the 90s, Westerners were more more tolerant about being an open faggot, yet ironically, they would censor those elements hardcore when bringing them over. Now, that being a progressive faggot is in, Western children show suddenly have these elements, but they are hamfisted, and creepy. Why? Because it is like their inclusion is meant to inform reality, it is not a fantasy creation.
