Unprepared, 1v1: fall back on Tae Kwon Do experience, boot to the head.
Unprepared and outnumbered: aggressively attack the weakest looking enemy, keeping him between me and his friends. Escape when an opening appears.
Prepared, 1v1: not going to happen, I avoid fighting when I can.
Prepared riot between two factions: depends on how much time I've got, I've had an idea for makeshift armor and a sort of cestus/buckler hybrid that I think would work well. If I don't have that kind of time I'd probably stick to dragging the injured out of the melee. Low risk of injury and I just might save some lives.
