personally at this point, i feel like we should follow in japans footsteps, where you can own a gun, but in addition to a background check, you also have to pass a psychological evaluation and every 2 years you have to retake said background check and psych eval or the government comes knocking on your door
t. i own several guns and carry one almost daily, but i dread the thought of ever using them on a human
i have absolutely no problem with firearms, just some of the people that are allowed to own them/people who circumvent the laws bc they're convicted felons or failed the background check/let their toddler get ahold of a .45 and shoot someone in the leg
