>>20921874Every serious historian agrees that Jesus existed. There's more proof of him than many kings and emperors even
>>20921875Repentance is not required for salvation for so many reasons.
One, turning from evil is the definition of repentance and its called works. Your definition is flawed or at least overly metaphorical because God isn't doing what you describe in Jonah.
Two, David (one of the holiest men to live) confessed that he had more sins than the number of hairs on his head, that's thousands or millions not sure really but the point is nobody repents that many times and if David had to repent that many times, how much more would the average person?
Third, the bible teaches even the thought of foolishness is sin, and what of sins that you are ignorant of such as those described in leviticus? How can one repent for a sin he doesn't know he commits.
Fourth, when asked in the book of acts chapter 16 verse 30, what one must do to be saved, the answer was believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, not repent.
And finally, my favorite. The book of John is literally claimed in the Bible to have been written so that people can read it and be saved, why then is the Word repent completely absent from it, if it's an essential part of the gospel?
