There is an situation in vinland saga where the prince says to be truly good in this world you need to die, because just by existing every single day you unintentionally cause hurt to others because of your primal needs. Only by death you can just truly give without expecting or needing anything in return. This seems bs but it's an extreme interpolation of the good side of us, who wants nothing but to make everyone in our lives happy.
That's fine and dandy but what about us. Pride, greed, wrath, gluttony, envy, lust and sloth are termed as "bad" but in hindsight these are the only things we do for self preservation and probably the only things that somehow kept us alive so far. Terming these qualities as monsters is honestly downright stupid.
Malice and ignorance are needed because not everyone reciprocates the goodness of our heart. Without it you get bent over and fucked. In the cosmic scale of things out entire existence can be summed up in a blink of an eye, prioritising oneself and a few others who truly care for us is the best way to go
