In most religions the relationship to their gods is that of fear and servitude. The gods being the personification of the forces of nature, ready to destroy humanity at any given moment, and so they did everything to appease the gods and keep them calm. From festivitis, temples and worship, sacrifice, even that of other humans and especially virgins and children or the firstborn son. There were even cults that engaged in temple prostitution, or castrated themselves and lived "genderqueer" lifestyles to appease their (usually) godess.
The choice of which god you choose is dependent solely on which gives you the biggest chance to survive always being at the mercy of the whims of the gods.
In Christianity this is different. It is explained how the allmighty Creator loves us dearly, and every form of hardship and punishment we encounter is merely our father disciplining us into becoming the best versions of ourselves. In Christianity you dont worship in fear, you worship in thankfulness and genuine respect for our Creator and Redeemer, for the works He did and still does to us. The fear of Him being that of a child to his father, a means to overcome the temptation that harms us, fearing God more then the gun to our head telling us to sin, and so abstaining from sin and remaining in rightousness.
Following His word not because we avoid punishment, but because we see the good in His advices, and the care put into our guidance, knowing that He desires our best.
