Yes religion is a weapon of satan, no the athiest is only half right but still in the wrong because he doesn't have faith in God, and instead has opted to attack the strawman that satan built out of men who foolishly believe they are saved by their deeds, hence the first citational accusation an athiest has against religion is 2,000 years of atrocities committed in Gods name, inquisitions, jihadism, crusades, terrorist attacks. Its all the same, satan using countries and political groups to slander God by conflating religion with the gospel and subverting it by implying you're saved by following the law, when the apostles and all of history can testify that the body, no matter what you believe in, will not yield to god. You are to place your faith in the finished work at the cross that Christ achieved for your sake, and if you tell an athiest or a religious person this, the result is nigh the same, they either both scoff, or they both act smug, and accuse you of breaking the law, to which the athiest conveniently forgets they are essentially pulling it out of their ass whilst implying that all religion is wrong
( which it is because its law following for the sake of self justification, which is what leads to hell, because you as well as anyone has already broken the law a hundred thousand times in the life)
Of course, when you call athiesm out on their moral objections to religion and raise the point that religion is the same, and it doesn't mean that God doesn't exist, and infact is 2,000 years of citational evidence that can be used to prove incontrovertibly that satan does infact exist, and comes as a bearer of light wielding the law, ready to accuse you of sin and will do everything possible to get you to ignore what Jesus did, who he was, and the significance of what he did at the cross.
