Sex is always somewhat transactional. Even if you just pick up a girl and go on a date, you better make sure you'll be paying or she won't put out. Women are keen on the men paying for the first date because to them it means that you are a provider. As long as you provide, she'll service your dick.
Prostitution is pretty much the shortcut to that sort of servicing without all the formal and social mumbo jumbo. You pay some whore a certain amount of money, and she'll do what whatever sexual act you both agreed to.
Women hate to be raped not because of the dick inside here, hell they have dicks inside them all the time, but because she didn't get anything material out of it.
So that's why not paying a prostitute is kind of like rape (from a woman's perspective).
