There's also a new trend of city folk going back to rural areas to work on the farms and such. This is because there are no jobs anywhere in Maine, so short of moving out of the state, the only jobs available for many people are the jobs their family had.
So there it is: Nobody moves to Maine from anywhere else in the country because there are no jobs, and everyone in Maine tries to leave because there are no jobs, and the only ones left are the ones with strong family ties. (and the Somalians, but that's another story) Thus, the strong family heritage Mainers have.
