You can limit your use as much as you can, but even homeless people need smartphones to do certain things now. Nobody is completely a victim, but to act like people collectively chose this is just wrong. We were told that the world would be this way, and anyone who didn't participate was slowly but surely denied access to society.
A good example of this is my father. He turned 60 this year, but he was a manual laborer and later a skilled tradesman that never spent much time with computers/tech in general. When he was young, typing was gay woman shit and nobody cared, fast forward a few decades and it's a mandatory skill. You can call him stupid for not adapting if you want, but I sincerely doubt you can take an engine apart and put it back together. He can.
