>>21266781I used heroin and other opiates for a long time, unfortunately... They're on a whole different level to alcohol.
>>21266767Opiates and opioids are in a special class all their own. They actually activate endogenous opiate/endorphin receptors *inside* certain organelles, which is very abnormal and never happens naturally. This is why opiates/opioids are so much stronger than any natural feeling, and why the subjective experience is impossible to replicate naturally. Even just loading your brain with your own endogenous opiates wouldn't cause the pleasure of exogenous opiates, because none of your natural endorphins go *inside* organelles which have vestigial endorphin/opiate receptors that can be activated by the exogenous opiates.
Some things, some experiences, are too much - too good - and should not be experienced for the sake of your wellbeing and sanity. "Recreational" exogenous opiate/opioid use is one of those, especially when taken in ways that induce a "rush" such as injection, vaping (yes, it's possible), plugging, or even sublingual and intranasal with heavy doses. Heroin especially is ridiculous in its effects and how it metabolizes into more and more active opiates/opioids, leading to an impossibly pleasurable experience that can never be forgotten. Fentanyl and other synthetic heroin-like substances don't even come close to the euphoric bliss of pure heroin. Never do it unless you are intending to suffer greatly, no matter what you estimate your self-control to be and no matter if you can handle other drug classes responsible.
t. ex-heroin addict - post-stabbing was prescribed opioids, ended up dependent, started using IV to conserve and prolong prescriptions, prescriptions ran out so switched to street-sourced pharmaceuticals, eventually switched to (IV) heroin for the bang/buck factor - clean for several years now, never going back. But I will always remember how it feels...
