But what really rustles my jimmies is that the artist appears to have made the head of Perseus a self-portrait. Normally I would consider this, because it is ugly and satanic something obviously Jewish. I'm WASPy, not Italian or a Med but this guy is apparently an ethnic Italian. What the fuck. This very obviously mentally ill artist is betraying everything and turned it into some kind of fetish act.
The entire point of the myth is that it inspires a tragic agony about Medusa's fate, and what scorn and abuse can turn a woman into. Perseus didn't do nothin'. By showing the monster overcome the hero, you invert everything. That's obviously the goal. To invert what is righteous and uplift what is ugly and hateful, hence the sheer jewishness I detected initially.
