When you stop keeping score of little league games, stop calling the side with less runs/points “losers”, teach kids about losing and how to respond, you get a generation of people expecting success, and if not success then at least a participation trophy.
Each gen gets softer because parents don’t want to hurt their feelings/self-esteem. They forget the lessons held in failure. The extra work required to become a winner is never learned or appreciated.
