True but also not as true. Some horror games just were so bright. Going back to them appears as if I was a pussy back in the day. Example is Deadspace, where they knocked it out of the park in the remake on the lighting. It felt like how I felt back in the day but going back to the original Deadspace, holyshit everything was so brightly lid, it was embarassing on how it somehow made me scared as a kid.

Well, realistic aids for fear. I know I was talking about horror games (which revolves around fear) but I was looking at it as more of a uniqueness/ personality perspective, like if being scary wasn't its only selling point.

But maybe thats just me, I value the feel of the environment the most.
