The Earth's magnetic pole reacts to extreme solar output, creating plasma formations in the sky - Angels, dragons, the phoenix, the Thunderbird, Jacob's latter, the stairway to heaven, etc.... etc....
These events were seen all over the word. People of the time couldn't explain it. Imagine a normal aurora. Now imagine the aurora so extreme and large that it takes shape, (look up cymatic resonance for an idea of the "occult" shapes we're familiar with, star of david being one of the shapes).
These events, over time, became the basis of religion - people used stories to scientifically explain what was going on during those times.
However, make no mistake, these events would also bring destruction to the earth, changing the landscape. Because of the electrical storm on Earth, the land changes dramatically, with mountains rising from flat earth, tsunamis a mile high, 10.0 earthquakes, islands sinking, etc... it's literally the catastrophic stories told throughout the Bible and other religions.
According to every major religion....
This will happen again.
