I honestly think the biggest mistake was mandatory sexual awareness training in middle and high school. Anyone with an attention span was freaked out by that scare propaganda, but that's the ideal time to have kids: relationships mainly governed by parents and schooling (similar social status, wealth, etc.), parents around to help with transition to parenthood, and you have a whole freaking life to spend with your offspring.
