I've had debilitating ADHD all my life, am 29 now

randomly listened to a youtube video where a guy said that he does a very short workout every 30-60 minutes to promote bloodflow and alertness for his study sessions

I've read some neuroscience and know that exercise stimulates a lot of neurochemicals like dopamine while also upregulating d2 dopamine receptors (something dysregulated in ADHD).

Basically, you get elevated dopamine for about 4 hours after working out, which gives you some temporary relief from ADHD symptoms, and you also get increased D2 receptors and growth in certain brain areas which gives you more long-term improvement.

>started a routine:
>do a somewhat intense bout of exercise every ~4 hours or so (a few sets of either upper body, core, or lower body exercises, or 2 sets of burpees)
>every 30-60 minutes do one set of exercise (either a set of pushups or squats or something or 100-200 jumping jacks)

holy fuck this changed my life. My mind is active and I can focus now. It's also had a compound effect because there were a lot of other things that I was trying to do before to improve my adhd (meditation, heavily limiting internet use, reading, etc.) that I was unable to get into the habit of doing before, but can do now because of the improved attention/energy/discipline from exercise.

The best thing is that you still have the neurological benefits from the last short session before the new short session, so it's much easier for me to do this than try to do one long exercise session per day - I was never able to persist with that but I'm able to persist with this no problem.

Just an idea for anyone who's struggling
