jesus said 'it is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven.' why, as a white european anglo, would jesus use an analogy involving an animal from a desert region? as a euro, he would have little to no experience with such an animal. why wouldnt he say, 'its easier for a bear to pass thru the eye of a needle'? it just doesnt make sense.

was jesus just dumbing down his parlance to appeal to the desert people he had traveled to, in order to warn them about the trickery of money and power? are there any other jesus quotes that show that he is using more desert language and analogies? it just seems like if he is going to keep talking about desert things, then i, as a anglo, might not really want to care so much. my skin is light, like the snowy mountains. what do i care about some desert man quibbling about sand and oil lamps?
