my position on this issue is, I don't see how you can complain this is an animal rights issue and then be fine with chinese people torturing their food alive on the dinner plate. this species has anatomy that's obviously compatible with OP, and that goes both ways. I'd rather the dog sleep with OP than sleep in an indian restaurant.
beyond that, i really don't see how you can defend castrating the family pet. for any reason.
when I was a kid, my cat had just one kitten. that cat was my friend for a decade. Had they done that to her, I would have never met that cat.
