It also played a role in the Native American genocide, the Spanish Inquisition in the Americas, and the defense of slavery in the Americas, where biblical passages were cited to legitimize the enslavement of Africans. Additionally, Christian rhetoric supported racial segregation during the Jim Crow era, and was used to frame imperial conquests like the Crusades in the New World as divinely sanctioned.
