What we think as the most sacred objects & expensive objects, this is where they'd put it. I'm sure they would've had other places where they stored important/precious objects, yet the Pyramid of Giza was given more importance than others, otherwise, archeologists would've found plenty of them.
Remember: this is a big building, out in the open, intentionally to stand out to the public view. Nothing strategic from a defensive point of view.
Theory #2 - Fortress/Bunker for the Pharaohs and their families.
Whenever ancient Egyptian slaves/citizenry got angry, this is the building where the Egyptian army & temple chief priests would help the Pharaohs to avoid death, until they'd qualm revolts, uprisings.
Theory #3 - Ancient astrology observatory.
This is where the math was done, in tandem with the Sun & Moon positioning, the stars, everything. This is where they determined the months, days, the weather etc.
They say that the pavement was basalt or pitch black, right? What does pitch darkness remind us of? The sky, at the night, the stars.
This is where they stored their fancy equipments, charts, calendars, archive calendars, important dates of harvests & weather precipitations.
At the very least, the Pharaohs' and/or temple chiefs' study or quasi-academic & quasi-ministerial meetings.
An astrologic observatory seems plausible, with some specific archival materials.
Theory #4 - A residence retreat for the Pharaohs & their family, for whenever they wanted to retreat from public view & ears, and not be present in their usual palaces or surrounded by somebody all the time.
