it's been happening for fucking 50 years atleast
sci-fi has an almost religious aspect to it
it's the people with sugar plum fairies in their head who read some cyberpunk novel who end up succeeding and creating things like google maps later on
it happens with net-negative stuff as well, there's no reason to think these people would be reasonable or discriminate in any way
