Most people don't use these in a clinical setting for treatment or even in a serious manner to reap the potential benefits from them. Your average psyche user is taking these and watching netflix, going to a goypop concert or doing something else that's retarded. And from what I remember, ibogaine isn't exactly an enjoyable recreational hallucinogen, so no ones really using that for funsies.
I understand what you mean though, people using blanketed statements and over generalizations about psychedelics as some kind of miracle cure all I think are wrong too. Even with actual evidence based medicine, if used incorrectly can produce bad results. Doesn't mean they should then be completely discarded just because they're being used inappropriately
