I remember watching TV with my dad one day when I was way younger than now and it was playing this like communist party interview/meeting on the news, and what piqued my interest most was all the people's appearances there; they all looked unkept(we're talking negative effort put to present themselves in front of all of Greece), ugly and disgustingly out of shape, even the room seemed filthy and moldy. this obese crosseyed lady with what looked like hair that hadn't been washed in weeks, with stray strands flying everywhere, opened her mouth to talk and I remember legitimately feeling terror looking at her orc-like busted teeth. she was also so unmistakeably dull and uncharismatic it was almost painful to watch... I commented about all this to get my dad's opinion on the matter, and my dad mind you isn't very political, he's very respectful, open minded and never says something if he doesn't really mean it, but he said this with no hesitation: "yeah, all communists are awkward" - there's no direct translation of the word he used to describe them but it's a strong word and means like, weird, ugly and "misfit", in the bad and stupid kind of way, not the genius nerd kind of way. Idk why it stood out to me so much and felt so heavy to hear back then but I keep replaying this moment in my brain every time I find his statement reinforced and proven correct in my life, and this has happened so many times already it's come to the point where this has become a core memory that will stay with me till the day I die, I think. Pretty sure.
