In the 1700s life expectancy on average would hit the 30s or 40s with some extreme outliers making it to their 80s and missing teeth where already rather common to the point being 50 and having all teeth was a rarity.
Now the commonality of sugar may have still played a part in it, but I’m also seeing a pattern
