>>21548000>But doesn’t the light emitted from the torch carry momentumyou would basically need a gigantic sheet to catch enough photons for that.
this is a theoretical propulsion method we call 'solar sailing' and it's way beyond our capabilities. (and probably would be a gimmick only used by the richest people anyway. it would basically be the tesla of interstellar societies)
>Ok, I though the effect of the shockwave would be less than the recoiloh god, no. you'd have to be dressed up like master chief to survive that kind of force.
it would turn your insides to goo and tear your limbs apart.
when a bomb is dropped, the thing that tears buildings apart is the shockwave. remember the 2020 Beirut explosion?
watching videos of that, you can see the shockwave cut through the atmosphere. look for what looks like a big bubble expanding rapidly. it displaces clouds, water, everything.
no, the shockwave of a charge is much, much worse than the recoil created by whatever launched it.
in the example of an RPG, there isn't much recoil. not to the degree of a gun. the rocket propels itself, the launcher is just a tube with a primer. whereas, a bullet is propelled by the gunpowder in the casing, which is left behind.
