We shouldn't judge all threads in the dichotomic way of "promoting OC/discussion" as there may be, and are threads made for the fun, yet neither of those two. As an example I can give the threads based on Karen's character (or maybe let's say, all characters from Kiniro Mosaic) that are those harmless little places for those speciffic people to post the girls from the show, talk etc. I find them of quality, as (if there is one at the moment) there is usually only one or two of these threads at the time and people from them do not post what they do there outside, not to disrupt others. I think that is a really good way of behaving, yet it does not encourage OC or discussion (well, maybe a little bit) in any way.
In response to second paragraph of your article, I agree with you, those yellow pressers think that (You)s are some sort of a currency here for God knows what reasons.
