You and your MAID cellmate (pic related) as well as a few hundred other MAID patients were sent to be exterminated in a euthanasia center in the desert, where you would all be made to kneel on a small, cleared patch of land together and then be blown up with explosives. But on your way there, a group of anti-MAID militants attacked the train you were put on, causing it to derail and crash, resulting in the death of most patients. The two of you were the only uninjured survivors.

You suggest taking shelter in the wreckage and waiting for the MAID personnel to come and pick you up, but your cellmate says there's no reason to think they're planning on doing that and says you should instead walk alongside the railway track until you reach the extermination center so you can get euthanized. He says staying here is risky because you could get kidnapped by human traffickers. You're hesitant because you're both barefoot and have no idea how far away the extermination center is.
