These Abrahamic religions that followed Judaism spread far and wide because of the malleability of their doctrine. Obviously in order to appeal to the European peoples Christcuckery needed to adapt and that's why they celebrate Ostera (Easter), an obviously pagan holiday and Yule (Christmas).
Christianity in general and more specifically Catholicism just wove some strands of pagan traditions into the deeply judaistic fabric of their religion. That doesn't make them pagans per say, it just makes them sellouts.

And who can argue with the results? After all Christianity has more or less forcefully taken control of Europe and North Africa (before the muslims took over). Their adaptability is what made the religion so successful.

you've somewhat undercut your own argument here by giving this brand of "Christianity" (which I'm sure is the type of Protestantism you're most familiar with, fair enough) a 500 year patrimony. The type of Protestantism you describe has existed for less than a century. That's not really true, a lot of holidays are from pagan traditions, christianity in the beginning was not spread by force for the most part but by missionaries and lords who converted
A lot of local traditions mixed or got simply taken over
