To be honest, I have no idea. The only thing asparagus growers of pure Spanish descent from Sonora have in common with coffee bean growers in Chiapas is the fact that they speak Spanish, are members of the Roman Catholic Church, and pay taxes to the same federal government. Then again, the kind of slang words used in Mexican Spanish are also used in parts of Central America, and certain Mexican dishes like pozole and tacos are also found as far south as Honduras. I've also noticed many Mexican-made products like soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper are exported over all of Central American countries.
Spanish dubs of foreign-made films and TV series are usually made in either Mexico, Venezuela, or Chile, and are distributed to every Spanish-speaking single country in the Americas. Since Mexico is the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world, a lot of Mexican television shows (mostly shitty sitcoms and telenovelas watched by Latin American housewives) have been exported to other Latin American countries, where they've become fairly well recognized, from what I've heard.
Then again, the overwhelming majority of Mexican pop culture is centered around Mexico City, and since I am not from Mexico City, I don't really relate to it except on a superficial level.
