You can design your own circuit boards with software and send the designs out to have them made professionally for you, or desing and create your own. You should read up on the guy who invested the Ring Doorbel he went on Shark Tank and they turned him down and he later sold his bus for about $700,000,000. You can create almost any combo of hardware/software for your own interests and maybe make something useful for others. You can also 3D print parts, or desing parts and send email the designs to professional machine shops that make the parts for you the million dollar machines. Technology is changing fast, espcially with the drone wars raging Ukraine and soon the middle east, looks at the drone nonsense in New Jersey, maybe you can make something. After you gain some skill you may also want/be able to get a jog with major company or start up that has more resources/techhology. Always be aware of proper PPE/health and safety. You need to know about and wear eye protection, hearing protection, ventilation. I been around a few years and what was "fine" before turned out to cause serious illness later.
