Heart disease is a large problem in society and the main cause of the problem is an excessive proportion of carbohydrates.
Below is a policy which will significantly reduce heart disease in the future in Australia.
Many foods in Australia have labelling which lists the ingredients in foods, for ingredients which are known as heart disease vectors
(100% carbohydrate foods like bread, cake and pasta, processed meats like salami, canola oil, and uncommon chemically augmented foods)
the companies that sell these products should have their prices checked then price roofed and finally there should be an application of a 100% tax on the % of these ingredients.
That means a 50% carbohydrate product will receive a 50% tax on it's total price. (Everywhere throughout it's sell cycle)
That means a 100% carbohydrate product will receive a 100% tax on it's total price.
This price floor will force the products to remain at their price or to stop being sold.
This policy will force a massive reduction in heart disease causing foods and in effect increase the GDP per capita of the country.
Furthermore the tax should pay for effective treatments for heart disease, corporations SHOULD NOT get off of paying this tax.
People are paying taxes through charities to resolve heart problems.
This tax should also apply to fast food outlets, but through an identification of carbohydrate products (rice, pasta, bread, crumbs, couscous, etc) and processed meat products (chorizo, salami, high fat mince meat).
Cooking in canola oil will make the food absorb 2% - 10% of the oil.
Let's introduce an effective government solution, which is moral by design and so people who do not cause the problem of heart disease don't end up footing the bill.
