What led to Slavs making so few facial expressions?

I saw a study that found Russians make fewer facial expressions than any other country in the world. This is a thing across the Slavic world, have very non-expressive faces. How did that evolve culturally?

Probably just a by-product of evolution. You don't necessarily have to be conspicuously visually expressive to survive. A trait stays because it's useful. Slav isn't totally devoid of facial expression. Probably the ancestor who had that face won the hostile genetic race and carnage was a sambo master.

It's not cultural, though I'm sure life is hard so that doesn't help.

But otherwise they just tend to have resting asshole face, It's not non-expressive if you know what to look for-- for instance, that guy looks pretty relaxed to me. My dad is russian and polish, and I inherited this expression as well. If you say something to interest this man, I'm sure he would have plenty of expression to his face.

Why there though, life was hard in the Kenya as well, but Africans still tended to smile and show a range of facial expression even as they were robbing me.
