How are you dealing with the decline of civilization?
Normally we would be married by now with children and too busy to think about the past, but living alone all I've got is time on my hands. I was digging through a box of old cables to setup something for my mom and looking at those old RCA cables, DVI connectors and junk I was hit by a wave of nostalgia for everything we've lost. All those years where technology seemed like the greatest thing ever, so much effort put into just getting some video downloaded off the net to play on a TV or carrying a backpack full of shit to your friends house so you could play multiplayer with your gaming console for a sleepover... and then technology just kept getting smaller and smaller and more connected and before I noticed it people just stopped leaving their houses for anything because they could just do it from their phone.
It's been 5 years since I've seen my 'friends', I think it would be more accurate to say that they died 5 years ago during covid because who they are now is a shadow of their former selves. I look at my parents and I don't recognize them, I remember who they used to be, so vibrant and full of life and now they're a couple of geriatrics that stare at their phones all day.
It feels like I went to sleep and society just disappeared overnight, or rather went digital. There's nothing new to look forward to or be excited about anymore other than videos and apps, it seems like pretty much all progress in the physical world has stopped or is reversing.
For other no life anons like me, what do you do with your time? And for those who spend their time staring at a screen, what do you do on it? I've spent the last 20 years staring at a screen and I just can't find anything to do anymore. Physical hobbies have also been ruined by the internet and globalization, it feels like everything you do is a waste of time if you're not doing it for the purposes of hustling.
