He's currently the "father" of his child who he absolutely adores.
They got together after she bacame pregnant so he was basically a frog in slowly boiling water.
My only question is did she plan this? they have broken up now (he wanted time and she decided that time would be permenant) so it's bothered me a little that he's a commited father. He's not your traditional beta. Before this he was going to be an engineer in the Army but now hes relegated to minium wage jobs dues to his lack of education and unwillingness to take a job that moves him away from his child.
I know he's not the biological father but don't you think it's a good idea he carrys on his role rather than fuck off too the army and his "child" forgets about him?
