I want to start this thread adressing this argument, because ironically the people using this then propose a return to paganism.
Now aside from there being no "paganism" but a thousand different cults with mostly no connection to another (showing quite well that the "pagans" dont care about it at all as they never specify a specific worship, customs, ideals etc), its completly contrary to the actual pagan cultures we see.
In Example, the european scripts came from phoenecian trade, which brought with them many technologies and myths alike which were incorporated into the european mythology. Romans esepcially were big on the syncreticism, the believe that the foreign gods are the same as their own under a different name.
We have various mystery cults growing big in rome like the Mithraism, which origianlly came from the middle east forming an entire worship over a foreign figure.
Yet today those completly detached from paganism demand a return to the faith of their people (mixed with a whole lot of foreign stuff), but neglect Christ on the claim it is foreign, althougn it was held dear and was shaped by their closest ancestors for the last 2000 years.
This further ignores that truth is simply truth, regardless of who discovered and shared it.
