Our sexual desire is driven by testosterone. Women are more open to sexual advances when their testosterone rises during the follicular phase spikes during ovulation, which coincidentally is when they’re able to get pregnant. Outside of those times (a roughly 9 day period of their menstrual cycle), sexual desire in women is mostly psychological. Coincidentally, the average woman masturbates 9 times a month, and sexual frequency is 24% higher during ovulation (a single day) than it is during the follicular phase.
It’s basically a monthly heat/estrus cycle, like other mammals. The only difference is degree; other mammals (non-primates) are never receptive to sex if there’s no chance of pregnancy, while high primates are much less receptive.
My theory is that the generational drop in testosterone has led to a sizable number of nearly-sexless women, and another sizable group who are only receptive for a small window just before ovulation. The latter group are the meme whores. They have no desire for men outside of a short few days a month, when their testosterone spikes and they get horny, so they find some random guy to fuck.
